IFP invites applications for Fellowships Program 2009
Ahmedabad, Oct 16 (UNI) The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) today invited applications for its eighth fellowships program for 2009 for studying a master's degree at a university abroad or in India on a cent per cent scholarship from the foundation.
Addressing mediapersons here today, fellowships program Director Vivek Mansukhani said the program seeked to build a new generation of social justice leaders in the country by offering an opportunity for quality higher education. The program was especially designed to support candidates from groups that have historically lacked access to higher education, he added.
''There is an increasing need for funding education for committed people, who would normally not have access to quality and focused higher education. This program's mission is clear to create opportunities for real, social and economic change through a network of people who work at the grass roots level,'' he said.
Fourty candidates will be selected following an intensive search and selection process. The pre-application and final application forms will be reviewed and evaluated by panels of experts from academia, the social development sector and other related disciplines. Shortlisted candidates will be further screened through regional and national interviews, he added.
