Tripura: Four militants arrested, arms seized

Agartala, Oct 16: The Tripura police arrested three militants, allegedly involved in extortion in remote Ruhida Para of Gandacherra in Dhalai district and recovered country-made guns from their possession.

Police here today said acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in the village last night during which the miscreants opened fire at the security forces.

Police retaliated and in the exchange of fire, two of the militants, Donarai Reang and Alajoy Reang, received bullet injuries while the third Lalit Debbarma, was arrested from the spot.

The two injured were immediately shifted to Gandacherra Hospital and subsequently referred to the Agartala Government Medical College where the condition was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, Assam Rifles jawans arrested a collaborator of the proscribed NLFT, identified as Monaj Debbarma, from a tribal area of Khowai sub-division yesterday.

Besides extortion notes and other incriminating documents, 20,000 taka (Bangladeshi currency) was also seized from his possession, police added.
