Dr Krishnamurthy to get Dhanvantari Award

Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) Hyderabad-based world famous homeopathic physician Dr P S Krishnamurthy will get this year's Dhanvantari Award at a function to be held in the city on November 2.

Announcing this here today, the founder president of Dhanvantari Foundation, Dr B K Goyal said Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde would confer the award on Dr Krishnamurthy.

Dhanvantari Award , given annually since 1973 for outstanding contribution in the field of medical science, is considered as the supreme emblem of the recognition for a madical practitioner in the country.

This is the only award in the country which is given to practitioners of alternative medicine apart from allopathic practitioners.

Dr Krishnamurthy is a member of the Faculty of Homeopathy at London and had published more than 200 research papers. He is author of an internationally acclaimed book, ''Homeopathy at its Best'' Dr Christian Barnard (South Africa), Dr Denton Cooley(US), and Dr Indira Hinduja (Mumbai), pioneers of heart transplant surgery were the earlier recipients of the award.
