Cabinet decides to defer Gay Marriage Bill
New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) The Cabinet today decided to defer the proposed ' Gay Marriage Bill' as there were wide differences on the issue.
The lack of unanimity forced Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ask Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Health and Family Welfare Minister Ambumani Ramadoss to resolve their differences over the issue.
Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal, responding to questions from the media after the Cabinet meeting, agreed that there cannot be two different sets of affidavits from the same Government.
He said Attorney General Milon K Banerjee has informed the apex court that whatever decision the court will announce the Government will abide by that.
