Advani distances from the Muslim drivers controversy

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) Distancing himself away from the controversy surrounding the removal of two Muslim police drivers from the Vijay Sankalp Rally in Kerala, BJP Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani today said neither he nor the BJP in Kerala was aware of the incident.

In a statement to the reports alleging the removal of two the police drivers on October 14, Mr Advani said BJP did not believe in discrimination on the basis of religion in any matter. "I would like to state that neither I nor anyone in the BJP had any knowledge whatsover about the incident. I came to know of it only through the media", he said, asserting that neither he nor the BJP had given any such instructions.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the reports to this effect was baseless and assigning of the security tasks to the individual officials is the job of the State Government and the BJP had no role in it at all, he said.
