RSVP selected for second time for " Centre of Excellency"

Tirupati, Oct 15 (UNI)The Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) has been selected as '' Centre of Excellence in Traditional Shastras '' by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the second consecutive time, University Vice-Chancellor Prof.Harekrishna Satapathy said today.

Addressing in a press conference here he said after examining the recommendations of the Review Committee which visited the University in August last year, UGC also approved an additional allocation of Rs 3 crore for continuation of the '' Centre of Excellence'' during XI plan.

The UGC had sanctioned Rs 1.20 crore as first instalment of the Rs 3 crore to take up 12 academic projects, including intensive teaching of ancient texts by eminent scholars through short-term courses, development of electronic tools for learning ancient scripts, Sanskrit self learning kits, documentation of artefacts, digitalisation of manuscripts and conducting Post Graduate courses to bridge computer science and Sanskrit language technology under the scheme.
