One student killed in firing during inter-zonal college fest

Patiala, Oct 15 (UNI) One student died of bullet injuries in a clash between two rival groups during ongoing Inter Zonal youth festival of Punjabi University at Gursewak Singh Physical college here today.

According to police, the rival groups of students became embroiled in an argument while watching the inter zonal youth festival, which soon escalated into a fight.

According to sources, one of the students identified as Pushpinder Singh allegedly fished out country made revolver and opened fire on Gurpal Singh Cheema.

The bullet hit Gurpal,27, in the chest and he collapsed on the spot.

His friends rushed him to Local Rajindra Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The eyewitnesses captured one of the students indentified as Vicky and handed him over to the police.

All other accused have managed to escape. Police have registered a case and cordoned off the entire area to nab them.
