MP urges HRD Minister to issue orders governing OBC admissions
New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) Convenor of Parliamentary Forum of MPs from the Other Backward Classes V Hanumantha Rao today urged Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh to issue orders in line with the Supreme Court ruling regarding the admissions in the Central education institutions.
Mr Rao said in a statement the Court had declared that the vacant seats for the OBC category should be given to General category candidates in the Central institutions.
The Government should take the clarifications from the Court that the cut off percentage of marks could be as low as 10 per cent for the OBCs, he said and added that the Government had recently revised the income ceiling of the OBCs to Rs 4.5 lakhs. Both should be incorporated for admission of the eligible OBC candidates, he said.
