Mamata Banerjee to visit Batla House
New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, along with a 21-party delegation, will be attending a function on October 17 at Batla House, the scene of police-terrorist encounter last month.
Party sources said her visit to the place in Jamia Nagar in South Delhi was aimed to express her sympathy and solidarity with the minorities. She might demand a judicial inquiry into the encounter in which two terrorists and a police inspector were killed.
Several organisations were also demanding an inquiry into the incident, describing the encounter as fake. A large section of the area people maintained that those killed in the encounter were not terrorists but students.
The sources added that the delegation will also include the Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque at Kolkata.
