Spl quality cement by Dalmia Cement

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 15: Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL) is ready to produce a special quality cement for repair and maintenance of ancient structures, including heritage sites or historical monuments, DCBL Chief Executive Officer and wholetime Director T Venkatesan has said. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, ct 14, he said the company would manufacture the special quality cement provided there was a demand for it.

The Dalmiapuram plant of the company near here would reach its annual production 37 lakh tonnes this financial year, and 40 lakh tonnes during the next year. Work on the plants at Cuddapah and Ariyalur, with an annual production capacity of 20 lakh tonnes each, was in progress, he added.

While the Cuddapah plant would be commissioned within three months, the Ariyalur plant would go on stream by the middle of next year, he added.

Referring to the performance of their newly-launched 'The Dalmia Institute of Construction, Mr Venkatesan said similar institutes would be opened at Coimbatore, Madurai and Thanjavur shortly in view of the overwhelming response from rural youths to undergo training on construction technique.

He said the first batch of 10 rural youths, who completed the training at the Institute started in February this year, had got placement in various construction and design firms with a monthly pay package ranging between Rs 7,000 and Rs 12,000.
