PR Dasmunsi improves, off the ventilator
New Delhi, Oct 15: The health condition of Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi, who was admitted to the All India Institute for Medical Sciences on Monday, Oct 13 following acute heart problem, today showed improvement, hospital sources said.
''There has been considerable improvement in the health condition of Mr Dasmunsi. He is now off the ventilator and does not require ventilator support which is a good sign. Also, he has been showing improvement in the neurological status,'' AIIMS spokesperson Y K Gupta said. Mr Gupta said Mr Dasmunsi's vitals continued to be stable.
The Minister was admitted to the AIIMS early Monday morning following an acute ventricular failure.
Hospital sources said Mr Dasmunsi was brought to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness due to lung congestion caused by heart failure.
President Pratibha Patil visited Mr Dasmunsi in hospital yesterday morning to enquire about his health.
The senior Congress leader had suffered a heart attack on July 6 while he was on way to Kolkata from Malda after attending a meeting.
He had undergone an angioplasty and stenting of two coronary arteries in a hospital in Kolkata.
