Assam govt asks CID to probe Pak flag unfurling
Guwahati, Oct 15 (UNI) An irate mob today torched a Pakistani flag to protest the Assam Government's "inaction" to prevent hoisting of foreign flags at Udalguri and Darrang districts during recent ethnic violence.
The Assam Public Works (APW), an anti-militant social organization, burnt the flag in public view, official sources said.
APW president Abhijit Sarma alleged the Jihadi elements had sneaked into the Assam territory and were provoking the immigrant settlers aginst India's interest.
The state government, after initial denial of reports of unfurling of Pakistani flags at Udalghuri and Darrang districts, announced a CID inquiry to find out the truth.
