Sonia gets another jolt, in MP this time
Bhopal, Oct 14 (UNI) In the wake of cancellation of her rally at Rae Bareli, United Progressive Alliance Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi received yet another jolt from the Madhya Pradesh government as the latter denied her permission to address a party rally at the historic Lal Parade Ground here on October 19.
''In a communique to the party, Special Armed Force Deputy Inspector-General (Central Zone) Sanjeev Sharma expressed inability to provide the venue for the rally as 'Police Memorial Day' will be observed on October 21 and preparations for the same had already begun at the venue from October 6,'' said Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Suresh Pachouri.
Despite the police version, Mr Pachouri did not rule out the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's influence on state police officers.
