MP: Greedy groom returns empty-handed

Shivpuri, MP, Oct 14: A greedy groom had to return empty-handed when he demanded a motorbike of his choice as dowry at Narwar town in this district.

Police said yesterday that preparations were complete for Riaz Ahmad's daughter Nikki's 'nikah' on Saturday. Groom Iqbal Khan, from Gwalior division's Bhitarwar, his kin and friends arrived for the wedding. Khan did not like the motorcycle presented by the bride's family and threatened that he would not go ahead with the nikah if the motorbike of his choice would not be presented.

Taking a courageous step, Nikki refused to marry Khan. Her relatives supported the bride and a youth Pervez agreed to wed Nikki. Nikki's family did not lodge any police complaint.
