Delhi blasts kingpin's admission in Jamia on fake degree: Police

New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) In a major disclosure, likely to have far-reaching consequences, police today said September 13 Delhi blasts mastermind Atif Ameen was admitted to the Jamia University here on a fake degree.

The fake degree was of the prestigious Allahabad University, said Jt Commissioner (Special Cell) Karnal Singh.

''It was a Bachelor of Science degree showing Atif Ameen having passed from that university last year, in 2007.'' Atif took the admission in Jamia University in 2008, he said adding that the fact was revealed during investigations into the admission papers of Atif.

''Verifications disclosed that the degree was fake.'' Sources said this disclosure was bound to have wide-ranging ramifications as now the big question was who got Atif admitted to Jamia as admission to the central university was not easy and through just any degree.

''This shows that there were 'others' behind the entire plot and not just the module busted following the Batla House shootout which killed Atif.'' The scope of investigation would now be further enlarged to check the person or persons who facilitated Atif's admission, thereby revealing the 'larger hand' behind the entire 'plot', sources added.
