Chouhan begins following Model Code

Bhopal, Oct 14 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has set an example by refusing to use government airplane in view of the Model Code of Conduct becoming effective following declaration of election schedule in five states.

BJP sources said Mr Chouhan had gone to New Delhi for discussion with senior party leaders about prospective electoral strategy and selection of candidates when he got the news about the Model Code of Conduct becoming effective.

As soon as got the information, Mr Chouhan declined to use the government airplane and a private aircraft was arranged for him so that Mr Chouhan could attend further programmes without hindrance.

The Chief Minister made it clear that government resources would not be utilised for party work henceforth.

Senior party leaders were discussing issues like election management-related issues, release of poll manifesto and selection of party candidates in New Delhi.
