About 10,000 people embrace Buddhism in Karnataka
Gulbarga, Oct 14 (UNI) About 10,000 people today embraced Buddhism at a congregation held to mark the 52nd Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar converting to Buddhism.
International Buddhism Youth Organisation President Bhante Bodhi Dhamma solemenised the ceremony by making them take pledge that they would pursue the five main principles of the Buddhism.
Addressing the congregation, Bhante Bodhi said Buddhism preaches non-violence, peace and equality.
Earlier, the Buddhists took out a massive procession to the venue.
During October 2006, about 30,000 people had embraced Buddhism here.
