20-year-old woman raped and killed

Rajkot, Oct 14 (UNI) A 20-year-old mentally distressed woman was allegedly raped and murdered by an unidentified person at Sajjanpur village in Tankara taluka of the district.

According to the police, the victim's body was recovered from an agricultural field on the outskirts of the village yesterday afternoon. The woman was first allegedly raped and later strangled by the unknown person.

The victim's brother, Tribhovan Harji, had lodged a missing person complaint with the Tankara police, stating that she had gone to the field on Sunday afternoon but failed to return till yesterday morning.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprit, they added.
