20 killed, equal number injured in accident

Dehra Dun, Oct 14 (UNI) At least 20 people were feared killed and as many injured when their bus fell into a 500-m deep trench on the Rishikesh-Chamba rajmarg today.

According to the Disaster Miligation and Management Centre (DMMC) officials, the accident occurred around 1100 hrs, when the bus enroute from Tehri to Tarkhila with at least 40 passengers, plunged into the deep trench.

Rescue operations were on and police have also reached the spot to rescue the injured, the officials said.

Around 15 injured passengers have so far been pulled out of the bus and admitted to a local hospital, the officials said, adding the number of casualties may increase.
