Young house wife ends life over dowry issue

Madikeri Oct 13 (UNI) A dowry harassment has led a young house wife to commit suicide at Somwarpet yesterday, police said.

Police said that Sindhu, 24, a daughter of a jeweller at Somwarpet was married to another jeweller Manjunath at Davanagere.

He was given one kg of gold, 1.5 kg of silver and Rs four lakh as dowry during the marriage last year.

Manjunath was allegedly assaulting her mentally and physically for more money regularly and the girl had returned to her parent's house recently.

Yesterday Manjunath reportedly asked his in-laws to send Sindhu back home.

As her parents agreed to send her back, fearing further harassment Sindhu hung herself to death at her parent's house, police said.
