Sabarimala tantri challenges selection list for 'melsanthi' post

Kochi, Oct 13 (UNI) Senior Sabarimala 'tantri' Kandararu Maheshwaru today filed a petition before the Kerala High Court seeking that the antecedents of the candidates figuring in the selection list for Sabarimala melsanthi should be inquired into.

The senior priest alleged that during the selection process, the observer appointed by the High Court to oversee the 'melsanthi' about had pointed out that there were allegations and complaints that one or two of the selected candidates of having a criminal background.

In the light of this, the petitoner pleaded for a thorough and comprehensive inquiry regarding the veracity of the complaints.

He also sought an adjournment of the selection process of 'melsanthi' of Sabarimala from October 17 to October 28.

The High Court will consider the petition later this week.
