S K Thorat to be awarded honorary D Litt degree

Jabalpur, Oct 13 (UNI) Honorary degree of D Litt will be conferred upon University Grant Commission Chairman S K Thorat in Economics, along with other people, at 23rd convocation of Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalay here tomorrow, official sources said today.

IPCC Chairman R K Pachouri in Bio-science, Kashi Hindu Vishwavidyalay (Varanasi) former vice chancellor Punjab Singh in Education and Prof Ram Prakash in Literature would also be conferred with the honorary degree, Convocation programme chief convener Kamlesh Mishra said.

More than 100 students will be given gold medals during the convocation, he said and added that Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar would be the chief guest.

''The function will be presided over by Mr Punjab Singh while the special guest will be Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University (Jabalpur) Vice Chancellor Gautam Kalloo,'' he said.
