Mini shipyard promoters seek police help
Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 13 (UNI) East West Marine Engineering Works, promoters of the proposed mini shipyard to be set up in the port lands here, today sought police help as another industrial company East Coast Boat builders was obstructing the construction, claiming ownership over the land.
Talking to mediapersons here, company Chief Executive Officer M Padmaja said the port land, measuring 20 acres, was allotted to them on a 30-year lease by the port department on May 6 this year.
They had promptly remitted Rs 1.10 crore and taken possession of the land on the same day.
When they tried to start civil works, the representatives of the Ms East Coast Boat builders, the previous lease holders, obstructed it, claiming ownership over the land, she claimed.
She said she had obtained a court order in their favour and lodged a complaint to the police, seeking protection from the onslaughts of the previous leaseholder.
She appealed to the Superintendent of Police to provide protection to them to go ahead with the mini shipyard project, which would generate total employment of 2,000 skilled and non-skilled workers.
