Karnataka Government to implement irrigation project soon

Shimoga, Oct 13 (UNI) Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister Haratalu Halappa today said the Government would implement Rs 205 crore Dandavati Irrigation Project in this district of Karnataka soon.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Halappa said the Government had decided to provide suitable compensation to the landless farmers, who were affected by the project.

Asked about Shimoga sitting MP and Samajavadi Party(SP) State-Unit President S Bangarappa's allegation that the project would pose a threat like Singur project, the minister said Mr Bangarappa was only creating confusion over the issue among the people.
