Irrigation project to be implemented despite protest-Minister
Shimoga, Oct 13 (UNI) Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister Haratalu Halappa today affirmed that the government is firm on implementation of much disputed Rs 205 crore Dandavati Irrigation Project in Sorab taluk of Shimoga district at any cost.
Talking to media persons here he said that the proposed project is most ambitious one.
Stating that about 23000 acres of land on the either side of banks of Dandavati river will be benefited from the project, he said that the government has decided to give appropriate compensations to all affected by the proposed project.
To a question Shimoga sitting MP and Samajavadi Party President of State Unit S Bangarappa had threatened Singur model protest against the project, he said that he (Bangarappa) is only creating a confusion over the issue among the people.
