Greedy groom returns empty-handed

Shivpuri, MP, Oct 13 (UNI) A greedy groom had to return empty-handed after he demanded a motorbike of his choice in dowry at this district's Narwar town.

Police said today that preparations were complete for Riaz Ahmad's daughter Nikki's 'nikah' on Saturday. Groom Iqbal Khan, from Gwalior division's Bhitarwar, his kin and friends arrived for the wedding. Khan did not like the motorcycle presented by the bride's family and threatened that he would not go ahead with the nikah if the motorbike of his choice was not presented.

Taking a courageous step, Nikki refused to marry Khan. Her relatives supported the bride and a youth Pervez agreed to wed Nikki. Khan vanished leaving his shattered prestige behind. Nikki's family did not lodge any police complaint.
