Gold rises and silver falls on bullish advice

Mumbai, Oct 13: Gold spurted by Rs 10 per ten gm to Rs 13,430 in the opening session on Monday, Oct 13 from its previous close, on renewed demand from industrial users, traders in the Bombay Bullion Association said.

While, silver fell by Rs five per kg to Rs 18,955 on sustained heavy selling pressure, they said. In London, a negative sentiment was witnessed as gold was quoted at USD 861.00/862.50 per ounce (USD 881.00/882.50), while silver was quote at USD 10.60/10.61 an ounce (USD 11.55/11.56), market report said. Following were the opening domestic spot rates: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 18,955 Gold (per 10 gm): 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 13,430 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 13,495.
