4-day seminar of BioGoa 2008 from tomorrow

Panaji, Oct 13 (UNI) The four-day Third Seminar of BioGoa 2008 series II - ''Create Enterpreneurs in Biotechnology'', will be inaugurated at the International Centre in Dona Paula tomorrow.

Goa State Industries Assocation (GSIA) President Atul Naik and Vice -President Dr Sangam Kurade, speaking to mediapersons here today, said that the Seminar, which will be jointly organised by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, New Delhi and Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), New Delhi, will witness participation of around 50 entrepreneurs.

Mr Kurade said the main aim of the seminar is to create enterpreneurs in Biotechnology sector. ''With industries hardly coming to Goa, GSIA has taken the onus on itself to create and facilitate in creating enterpreneurs,'' Mr Kurade said.

He said during the first phase of the programme, GSAI conducted a three-week scrutiny and pre-screened around 50 prospective entrepreneurs including students from life Sciences background from among 150 candidates. These pre-screened candidates are being subjected to an intensive four-day programme.
