Security beefed up for Guru-Di-Gaddi celebrations: DGP
Nanded, Oct 12 (UNI) Police have beefed up security for the ''Guri-di-Gaddi'' celebrations, Special Director General of Police Shardaprasad Yadav said today.
Mr Yadav assured the local merchants of protection from miscreants during the celebrations.
He was speaking after inaugurating the newly-constructed building of the bomb detection and disposal squad here last evening.
The squad, first of its kind after Mumbai, is well equipped with modern technology. It has capacity to detect and dispose off any kind of bombs and explosives and has been established specially with reference to the celebration, he said.
It could be utilised for the districts included in the jurisdiction of the region including Nanded, Parbhani, Hingoli and Latur, he added.
Mr Yadav expressed confidence that the squad will perform its best. The inaugural programme was attended by the superintendent of police Mr Ravindra Singal and other officers.
