NCP to support DAN consensus candidate
Kohima, Oct 12 (UNI) Former Lok Sabha Speaker and NCP General Secretary Purno A Sangma has said that his party will support the consensus candidate of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) for the coming Lok Sabha election.
Addressing a press conference at Dimapur last evening Mr Sangma lauded Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for successfully managing the coalition in the state.
Replying to a question on the 'duel policy' of NCP in the Centre and the Northeast, he denied it saying the NCP follows the policy which is suitable with the time and situation.
Criticising the Centre for the ongoing peace process in Nagaland, Mr Sangma said ten years of peace was long enough to convince people that what it could bring for them but the successive governments at the Centre failed to find out a solution of the problem.
'' Ten years'' time was enough for the Government of India to resolve the issue but unfortunately the decade passed without the substantial measures taken by the Government, he added.
