End discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh: Samiti
Jammu, Oct 12 (UNI) After spearheading the two-month long agitation over Amarnath land row demanding restoration of land to the Shrine Board, the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) today emphasised on the need to end discrimination and support various demands of Ladakhis.
''Both Jammu and Ladakh regions are equally being discriminated by the successive state governments and I think they should be treated at par,'' Leela Karan Sharma, convener SAYSS told reporters at a press conference here.
''Two members of the Samiti recently visited Ladakh region and thanked the people for their support during the agitation,'' Mr Sharma said and added that the members met various political and social organisations who apprised them about the discrimination against Ladakhis.
Meanwhile, various outfits demanded opening of Mansovar road via Ladakh, inclusion of Bhoti language in 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution and Union territory status to the region, Mr Sharma added.
