CPI(M) against imposition of Article 356 in Orissa
Kolkata, Oct 12 (UNI) The CPI(M) today said it did not want imposition of Article 356 in Orissa where violence against Christians were taking place.
" It is not our demand for imposition of Article 356 in Orissa.
In fact we shall demand an amendment to the Article. We shall raise the issue in Parliament,'' CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury told reporters at the end of the first day's session of the party's central committee meeting.
Mr Yechury, however, decried the incidence of violence at Kandhmal in Orissa and said the Naveen Patnaik government had totally failed to tackle the situation.
" Even after six or seven weeks the state government has not been able to control the situation. It has totally failed,'' he said.
