Big B's condition stable, test results awaited
Mumbai, Oct 12 (UNI) The condition of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital here on his 66th birthday yesterday following severe abdominal pain, was now stable.
The actor was first taken to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle and then to Lilavati in Bandra (both in western suburbs), where he underwent a battery of tests, including blood test and CT scan.
Results of the tests were expected to be out by this afternoon, sources said.
While the icon, who was under observation, was accompanied by his wife Jaya Bachchan at the hospital throughout the night, son Abhishek, daughter Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, daughter-in-law Aishwarya and family friend and Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh left the hospital early this morning and were expected to arrive again.
Mr Bachchan was suspected to be suffering from incisional hernia, a recurring problem that has been troubling him since the near-fatal accident on the sets of film ''Coolie'' in 1982.
He had undergone surgery after the accident, following which he suffered from myasthenia gravis, an ailment of muscle weakness.
Mr Bachchan, who also underwent a surgery on November 30, 2005 for abdominal infection Diverticulosis, has a number of film projects worth around Rs 100 crore riding on him currently.
