Itanagar, Oct 12 (UNI) BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani has betted big for the party's prospect in the coming Lok Sabha elections in the North East.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ''Vijay Sankalp'', a rally held at Pasighat under East Siang district yesterday, Mr Advani exuded confidence that parliamentary polls in the 24 Lok Sabha seats in the country's northeastern region would yield ''good result''.

Mr Advani, also the Leader of Opposition, was referring to his interactions with various political groups and people during the recent Vijay Sankalp rally in Guwahati and Shillong.

Pointing out the ''failure'' of the UPA government on various fronts, Mr Advani said the two major issues for the growing disillusionment towards the UPA were the issues like mounting price rise and the failure to check the terror incidents.

''It is not just a lack of success towards protecting the lives of people. It is a total failure to arrest the growth of terrorism in the country,'' the BJP leader added.

He further accused the Congress-led UPA government of abusing the security personnel, while referring to the recent treatment meted towards a police official who attained martyrdom.

Replying to a query on illegal migration from Bangladesh into the North East, Mr Advani blamed the UPA for promoting external aggression.

He said the Supreme Court had charged the Manmohan Singh government for enacting a law like IMDT in Assam, by promoting the influx of Bangladeshi nationals in a large number.

Citing the recent violence in various parts of Assam, he also condemned the killing of tribals by the Bangladeshi migrants.
