72 Gram Pradhans to be rewarded by President

Siddharthnagar, Oct 12: Over 72 Gram Pradhans of seven districts, falling under Gorakhpur and Basti divisions in Uttar Pradesh, would be awarded by President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on October 17 for cleanliness in their villages.

The Gram Pradhas of those villages that have been identified as neat and clean in a recent survey by the Rural Development Ministry would be honoured by the President on the mentioned date in Hiassar (Haryana), official sources said.

The selected Gram Panchayats include 17 of Gorakhpur, 16 of Maharajganj, 11 of Deoaria, seven of Sant Kabirnagar, six of Basti, five of Kushinagar and two of Siddharthnagar districts.

For encouragement of cleanliness drive, cash would also be infused in the opted villages.
