TTD to perform 'Yagnas' from Oct 12
Chennai, Oct 11 (UNI) To seek the blessings of Sri Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathy and pray for prosperity, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will be performing sacred 'yagnas' in the city from tomorrow.
The 'yagnas' would be held between 0700 hrs and 1000 hrs in the mornings and from 1700 hrs to 2000 hrs in the evenings on the first two days.
On the final day, it would be performed between 0800 hrs and 1200 hrs.
As many as 115 learned Vedic scholars of the TTD would perform the 'Yagnas' in 108 'Homagundams' and principal of Tirupathi Vedic University and Vaikhanasa Agama Advisor of TTD, Sri Vishnu Battar, would supervise the rituals.
Addressing the media about the arrangements made for the 'Yagna,' TTD JEO A V Dharma Reddy said an elevated platform measuring about 5,000 sq ft was constructed for placing the main deities and 'Homagundams' for the pooja.
To take care of security, the Police had put up metal detectors at various points.
Special rows with chairs had been arranged for accommodating senior citizens and physically challenged.
A queue system would be in place to enable every devotee to have darshan of the almighty and the 'Yagna.' Huge LCD screens were also being installed to enable the devotees have a clear darshan of 'Yagna.' Due to parking space constraints, the devastanam had requested devotees to travel by buses and two-wheelers.
The venue is an open ground near Thiruvanmiyur Bus Terminus at Vasudevan Nagar.
