Rush of pilgrims at Kanakadurga temple unabated

Vijayawada, Oct 11 (UNI) Though the ten-day Navaratri celebrations ended on October nine, the rush of pilgrims at the Kanakadurga Temple atop Indrakeeladri Hill continued unabated for the second day today as thousands of devotees were coming to offer worship to the deity.

A temple official here said more than one lakh 'Bhavanis' offered worship in the last few days. About 15 lakh pilgrims visited the temple during the ten-day Dussera celebrations.

The 'Bhavanis', after a holy dip in River Krishna, offered 'Irumudi' to the Goddess, making the end of the 40-day 'Deeksha', he added.

The temple earned a revenue of Rs 1.21 crore during the festival, he said.

Meanwhile, a large number of people immersed Durga idols in River Krishna at the Prakasam Barrage here this evening.
