Khayyam to get Naushad Sangeet Samman in UP
Lucknow, Oct 11 (UNI) Naushad Sangeet Kendra, a body engaged in promoting music in Uttar Pradesh, has decided to bestow this year's Naushad Sangeet Samman to renowned music director of Hindi films, Khayyam.
The award, which comprises Rs 1 lakh in cash, a memento and a commendation letter, would be given to the legendary artist in the second week of December, however a date to this effect was yet to be decided.
Naushad Sangeet Kendra president Atahar Nabi today said a singing competition was organised, where participents sang songs of Khayyam, of which the 18 selected candidates would present their talent in front of the legend during the felicitation function.
