Irregularities in PTA teachers' appointments: Govt
Shimla, Oct 11 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government has found numerous "irregularities" in appointments of teachers by Parent Teacher Association during the previous Virbhadra Singh Government, a spokesman of Education Department said here today.
He alleged that favouritism played an important role in the PTA teachers' appointments and merit was ignored. "Applications were not invited and the posts were not advertised and the candidates were given appointment directly. In some cases, applicants did not appeared for the interviews, but they were given appointments," he said.
The Spokesman said that appointment of PTAs provided lecturers were found made without following proper procedure because posts were sanctioned by the Government on November 28, 2006, whereas the selections were made by the PTA on October 10, 2006.
