HP to construct 16,500 poly houses
Shimla, Oct 11 (UNI) National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs 154.92 crore to the Himachal Pradesh for the construction of 16,500 poly houses all over the state within next four years period.
Stating this here today Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the state government had submitted a detailed project report to the bank to construct poly houses in different parts of the state to motivate farmers towards adoption of precision farming practices and cultivate cash crops to give boost to agriculture income.
He said that 14,70,200 square meters of farm land had been targetted to be brought under the precision farming practice by constructing poly houses over the same, where off season vegetables and other cash crops could be cultivated.
The project would be generating direct employment to 4,000 rural artisans and 6,000 self-employment avenues to the educated rural youth, thereby benefitting the 10 thousand people with employment and self employment avenues in the state under the project, the Chief Minister said.
He said that the poly houses would be cultivating cash crops, off-season vegetables etc round the year and market the same to the different markets to fetch them remunerative prices. The poly houses would be capable to carry vegetable cultivation even in extreme climatic conditions.
