Delhi-London AI flight returns due to snag

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) A London-bound Air India aircraft, carrying 115 people on board, today returned to Delhi in less than an hour after smoke was detected in its cabin.

The Delhi-London AI 111 flight landed safely at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at around 0800 hrs, an Air India spokesperson said.

The aircraft, which left Delhi airport for London at around 0700 hrs, had been airborne for about 45 minutes when the pilot detected some smoke in the cabin.

Immediately after that, the aircraft reversed for Delhi where it landed safely at about 0800 hrs, the spokeserson said.

Later, the passengers were sent to London through a replacement aircraft which left Delhi Airport at 1200 hrs, the spokesperson added.
