Contract employee dies during a shooting

Hyderabad, Oct 11: Karun Kumar, 25, a contract employee of Ramoji Film City, fell off a crane and died during the shooting of a Telugu film at Ramoji Film City (RFC) on Friday, Oct 10 morning during the shooting of the movie 'Sasirekha Parinayam', starring Tarun and Genelia.

According to police, when some junior artists unwittingly removed a load of weight kept at the base of the crane to support it, the crane arm suddenly tilted resulting in the fall of the victim. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

"Some junior artistes from Film Nagar removed the weights from the crane resulting in one of its arms tilting. Karun who was standing atop the crane arm, fell and hit the floor," Mohan Reddy said.

Police registered a case for causing death by rash or negligent act (304-A of the Indian Penal Code) against RFC equipment in charge Pavan Kumar.
