Contraband worth Rs 1.44 crore seized from Tripura border
Agartala, Oct 11 (UNI) The BSF has seized a huge quantity of contraband goods about Rs 1.44 crore and apprehended 88 trespassers from the Tripura-Bangladesh border during the past one month.
BSF officials said today.
The seizure included ganja, sarees, textile garments, rice, phensidyl and forest produce.
The seizure worth about Rs 1.28 crore was made while the goods were being smuggled out to Bangladesh and goods worth about Rs 16 lakh were recovered while being brought from the neighbouring country.
The BSF also apprehended 40 Indian and 48 Bangladeshi nationals while illegally crossing over at various places on the Indo-Bangladesh border of Tripura, the officials added.
