BJP strikes understanding with Chautala's party in Haryana
New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party has struck an electoral understanding in Haryana for the coming Lok Sabha elections with Indian National Lok Dal supremo and former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala.
BJP's Prime Ministerial nominee L K Advani, BJP President Rajnath Singh and Mr Chautala will make public the details of the understanding reached between the two parties at a press conference tomorrow, BJP sources said.
There have been discussions with the Haryana unit of the BJP and the national leadership so that the NDA's chances will not be affected.
This deal is going to hurt the United National Progressive Alliance comprising Bahujan Samaj Party and Left party because Mr Chautala was in the camp till recently.
Incidentally, the INLD was part of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government also.
BJP sources said the Party's Election Management Committee had taken a decision to strike an alliance with the Om Prakash Chautala's party and the same had come up before the recently concluded National Executive meeting at Bangalore.
