Air passengers stage dharna following flight landing in TN
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 11 (UNI) Forty-two passengers, aboard the Sharjah-bound Indian flight via Thiruvananthapuram, staged a sit-in dharna as the pilot following an emergency landing here refused to fly them to Thiruvananthapuram citing a technical snag.
Tension prevailed at the airport as the flight, which took off from Chennai could not land at Thiruvananthapuram, enroute Sharjah, due to some technical snag and made an emergency landing here, the nearest airport, at 0315 hrs.
Stating that he would not be able to make a landing at Thiruvananthapuram, the pilot asked the 42 passengers to disembark and travel by road in a special bus to Thiruvananthapuram.
However, the passengers refused to budge. Rejecting the breakfast offered in the flight, the passengers staged a dharna till noon, when the flight finally flew to Thiruvananthapuram.
As the crew had no option, they set right the technical snag with the help of a technical team from Paramount Airways in Chennai and finally took off to Thiruvananthapuram at 1200 hrs.
