Sailing expedition for Naval NCC cadets

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 10 (UNI) A 10-day backwater sailing expedition by the Kerala Naval Unit NCC will be flaged off from Kappil here tomorrow.

A release today said Director-General, NCC (K&L), Brig T K Murali would flagg off the expedition, to be led by Commander Krishan Kumar, Commanding Officer of Kerala Naval Unit NCC.

The team would consist of 30 Senior Division Naval NCC Cadets, five Naval Instructors, two Associate NCC Officers and five civilian staff.

This was for the first time that a backwaters sailing expedition in whaler boats was undertaken.

The cadets would sail through Ashtamudi, Kayamkulam, Punnamada and Vembanad lakes, covering a distance of 410 kms in ten days.

The objective of the expedition was to inculcate courage amongst the cadets, besides improving their personality and comradeship, the release added.
