Low power generation in September 2008

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Electricity generation in the country was up only 4.2 per cent during September 2008 over September 2007, due to inadequate rainfall in catchment areas, reports here said.

Had rainfall in the catchment areas of major hydro power stations been sufficient, the generation growth would have been higher.

While the decline in the hydro generation stood at 11.77 per cent, nuclear generation also showed a marginal decline of 3.2 per cent. However, the thermal generation registered a growth of around 9.6 per cent.
