2 killed,40,including 17 securitymen injured in Kashmir violence

Srinagar, Oct 10 (UNI) Two people were killed and 40 others, including 17 CRPF and police personnel, wounded when security forces opened fire, burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse ''pro-freedom activists'' in the Kashmir valley, this afternoon.

An official spokesman tonight said that ten CRPF, including an assistant commandant and seven police personnel, were injured.

A CRPF bunker and barricade were damaged by the mob near Nowhatta police station when they tried to ransack it.

One Shafat Ahmad Mattoo, who received a bullet wound at Jamia Masjid gate at Nowhatta died in the hospital this evening.
