Teachers go on strike in Pondy

Puducherry, Oct 9 (UNI) Classes in all government schools here were disrupted as teachers resorted to a sit-in to press the implementation of the VI Pay Commission recommendations forthwith.

Members of the Puducherry State Government Teachers Association, numbering about 3,000, participated in the sit-in, Federation Leader Seshachalam told newspersons.

All teachers came to their respective schools and signed the attendance register. However, they did not attend classes.

Meanwhile, the employees of the government distillery at Aaryappalayam, near here, also resorted to a sit-in for the same cause.
