Municipal staff hold demo

Puducherry,Oct 9(UNI)Federation of the Puducherry Municipality and Commune Panchayat Labourers Unions today took out a procession and held a demonstration in front of the Local Administration Department to press their demands.

They were demanding among other things implementation of VI Pay Commission recommendations, exemption from One Man Commission constituted by the government to go into all the aspects of the implementation of the Pay Commission recommendations and regularisation of services of employees who had put in more than ten years of work.

Meanwhile,the CITU District Committee today took out a procession to press the administration to provide Rs 3,000 as Diwali bonus to the construction workers and unorganised sector labourers in the Union Territory.
